Trip Highlights

Itinerary Detail

Upon arrival, pick up from the Airport and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Ujjayanta Palace, Kunjaban Palace, and Jagannath Temple. The rest of the day is free for leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Post breakfast, proceed to visit Unakoti. It is a historic Shaiva pilgrimage spot and dates back to the 7th – 9th centuries, if not earlier. While the marvelous rock carvings and murals, with their primitive beauty, form the chief attraction, the natural beauty of mountain scenery and waterfalls are an added bonus. As per Hindu mythology, when Lord Shiva was going to Kashi along with one crore gods and goddesses, he made a night halt at this location. He asked all the gods and goddesses to wake up before sunrise and proceed to Kashi. It is said that in the morning, except Shiva himself, no one else could get up, so he set out for Kashi himself cursing the others to become stone images. Thus, we have one less than a crore stone images and carvings at Unakoti.

After that, return back to Agartala. Overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, proceed for a day excursion to Nirmahal. One of the finest beauty spots of the state, Nirmahal is situated 53 km from Agartala. The palace is so called as it is surrounded on all sides by a big lake called Rudra Sagar. The scenic beauty of the lake attracted Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishor Manikya (1927-47) so much that he built a spectacular palace at the center of the lake itself, named it Nirmahal (or palace in water).

After that, proceed to Udaipur, a city dotted with temples. The most famous is the Tripura Sundari temple, which is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. The temple was constructed by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya Debbarma in 1501. There is a big lake beside the temple known as Kalyan Sagar. The Bhubaneshwari Temple is another famous temple here. Udaipur is also known as “lake city” and has many beautiful lakes. Some of them are Bijoy Sagar, Jagannath Dighi, Amar Sagar (and Kalyan Sagar, as shared above). It also has a national library named “Nazrul Granthagar,” after the famous poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. In the evening, return back to Agartala for an overnight stay.

Post breakfast, check-out from the hotel and transfer to Airport to connect the flight for your onward destination.
